5 Romantic Christmas Proposal Ideas

It's that time of year again, the Christmas lights are on, the mulled wine is flowing, and people all over the world are preparing to pop the question! Too corny for some but just right for others, a Christmas proposal can be the perfect way to round off the festive season.

The snow is falling, the lights are twinkling and the festive spirit is in full swing – it’s hard not to get swept up in the moment! what do you think?

Really, all that matters is that your other half says yes but at the same time, you want to make it special, right?

If you decide that a Christmas marriage proposal is right for you, it will be unforgettable no matter what! It doesn’t get much more romantic than presenting a ring to her underneath the tree or getting down on one knee during a dreamy winter walk.

Angela Salzano expert in wedding Proposals in Italy and in Malta has gathered 5 of her favourites Christmas proposal ideas to help you make this Christmas one to remember.

1) Love Actually style

A classic proposal idea, especially around Christmas. This is a particularly sweet and simple idea if you want to make sure it's just the two of you there for the big moment. As connoisseurs of all things romance, you could say that we’re *pretty big* fans of the classic movie “Love Actually.”

2) Romantic winter walk in Italy

Simple yet romantic, this winter proposal idea is best reserved for snowy weather.

If you travel to Italy and you like snow, the perfect place is the Alps or the Dolomites.

One of the best things about this idea is that you can tailor it to your and your partner’s preferences. You might opt for a more intimate style, whereby you and your partner go for a quiet stroll together in a secluded spot; or sit on a soft carpet in front of a beautiful fireplace lit in a romantic lodge with a sweet hot chocolate in hand.

3) A Big Christmas Night Out

Going for dinner at a high-end restaurant or to the ballet provides the perfect setting for a proposal. Get really dressed up - we're talking tuxes or full-length gowns - and find the perfect moment with some bubbly in hand, to pop the question.

4) New Year Countdown in Malta

Not exactly a Christmas proposal but a festive one nonetheless. New Year's Eve is another opportune time to pop the question. Bend to one knee as the fireworks begin or as the countdown ends.

The perfect place is Malta, considering that the history of pyrotechnics displays in Malta stretches back to the time of the Order of the Knights of St John.

St George’s Square and the Valletta Waterfront are popular gathering points, and great places to take the temperature of the famed Maltese party spirit.

5)Stay at Home

If you're not a fan of the hustle and bustle of Christmas parties and shopping, then plan the ultimate night-in proposal at home. Whatever you like, do it to the extreme. If you're foodies, don't settle for wine and cheese - think caviar and Champagne. Make a special playlist, light a million candles, and how about a special little bauble on the tree.
